Metsä Group’s Pro Nemus Visitor Centre offers an overview of Metsä Group and its activity in an exciting and memorable manner. At the Visitor Centre, the visitors can engage in virtual mill tours, try a harvester simulator, and get to know the products, innovations, and the bioproduct mill’s ecosystem.
Furthermore, the Visitor Centre is a fine architectural complex built of Metsä Group’s own timber products. Wood and plywood surfaces are visible indoors and outdoors alike; for example, the building’s frame is made of MetsäWood Kerto®LVL. The Visitor Centre has also found recognition: it received The Exemplary Building of 2018 award from Keski-Suomen Rakennusinsinöörit ja -arkkitehdit (K-S RIA ry).
The project was carried out on a tight schedule. The project and implementation planning took place in the first half of 2017, the actual construction work began at the turn of September-October 2017, and Pro Nemus was inaugurated on 12 June 2018. The project was implemented in the form of subdivided target price contracts.
Fimpec’s role in the Pro Nemus project
Fimpec was responsible for the Pro Nemus project’s construction management. The company participated in project planning, was responsible for planning guidance and procurement activities, and supervised project implementation. In the project, the expertise of several Fimpec experts was utilised.
The site involved a lot of special planning and required new construction technology solutions. This is due to the intended use of the building. Among other things, exhibition technology and requirements thereof had to be considered throughout the construction process. Indeed, the project was very special and interesting, and the excellent co-operation between the parties allowed completing it on schedule and on budget.
